CAW News: The Strategic Planning Initiative and the Digital Readiness Toolkit
Hello friends! CAW is wrapping up two major projects this season that we are excited to share with you: the Strategic Planning Initiative, and the Digital Readiness Toolkit.
About the CAW Strategic Planning Initiative (SPI)
We are pleased to announce the completion of this phase of CAW’s 2022-2023 Strategic Planning Initiative, generously funded by the Mellon Foundation. Over the last year, members of CAW have worked closely with our community, the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA), professional consultants, and a constellation of mission-aligned organizations and partners to develop a strategic plan and handbook that will guide CAW’s future and align its organizational structure with its mission. We are excited to share what we have learned and receive feedback.
On November 15 at 3:15pm, we welcome you to attend our panel on the SPI project at the AMIA conference. A discussion will follow on the project, community-focussed archiving, and building collective work structures.
On November 15 at 1pm, we welcome you to attend the first meeting of the CAW-AMIA Working Group, also at the conference. The Working Group is a new arm of CAW that will guide and direct the annual CAW workshop at AMIA.
The New Digital Readiness Toolkit is Here!
We are pleased to announce the release of the new Digital Readiness Toolkit. The Toolkit is a robust guide with resources for organizations and individuals creating and caring for digital collections of all kinds. This version is nearly two years in the making and has new and expanded resources for audiovisual collections. It was co-developed by Community Archiving Workshop, Wisconsin Library Services, and Recollection Wisconsin, along with twelve regional archives partners across the United States. All of our partners are listed below. The new toolkit was developed as part of the Assessing and Addressing Digital Readiness for Audiovisual Collections (AADRAC) project, and was generously funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
We invite you to explore the Toolkit, use the Audio Visual Digital Readiness Self Assessment to determine your priorities, use the Digital Project Planning Worksheet to develop a plan and budget, and mark your progress using the Digital Readiness Levels.
Join us at our AMIA poster session to learn more and provide feedback. You can also send us your thoughts at info@recollectionwisconsin.org.
